To wear or not to wear?

From http://ianrstewart.blogspot.com/

I haven't been wearing my temporary tooth - I found it too uncomfortable and difficult to speak properly with it in. Like a demented Johnathan Ross, I've been lisping away like mad any time I've worn the tooth and guard. I thought I could get away with not wearing it at all over the next 4 months, but last night I was at a social function (more of that later) and, for the first time, I was very conscious of the gap in my teeth and the ugly mess round my gums. I ended up trying to avoid grinning - or at least not with my mouth open - or turning my head so that the right side of my face didn't show.

So, I put the tooth in this morning on the drive to work, just to try and get used to it. I still took it out before I got in to the office - it's a bit of a job to prise it off, and I end up with saliva tumbling out of my mouth as I do it - most embarrassing. Even with it in, saliva occasionally squirts out of the top when I try to speak. What am I to do?

As I said, I was out last night - I was invited to the SPL Roadshow (that's football for the non-believers out there) by the Clydesdale Bank, who sponsor the Premier League in Scotland. Chick Young (heh-heh) was the compere and the guests were Billy Dodds, Craig Burley and Craig Brown. It was pretty good - and well attended - about 150 present. Chick Young was complaining about impressionist Johnathan Watson's portrayal of him, and the fact that he can't go anywhere in Scotland now without somebody mimic-ing him. He  says people complain when he "doesn't sound like he should"!

I had  session at Bannatyne's before I went out - I am starting to find it a bit easier to do a bit more exercise again, now that my dosage of beta blockers has been increased to 7.5mg.

What else is new? Well, we've booked our Lake District walk in September. Ambleside - Langdale - Borrowdale - Keswick is the rough route. Hope we get lucky with the weather. Same group as last year's WHW walk, except John McWhinnie's not coming and Jack Simpson is doubtful as he's got 2 trips to Oz this year to see their daughter, so there could just be 5 of us going this time.

Jo and I have booked another short winter break for January next year. Instead of Aviemore, this time, we're off to Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel and Resort in Aberfoyle (http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/foresthills/). I was trying to use up some of our surplus time-share weeks, so we've actually got a full week booked here - not sure if we'll use all of it or just a long weekend - if I was fully retired, it would be a full week, but more likely it'll be a shorter break for us. There could well be some surplus days available - anyone fancy? Gary/Barry/Dawn?

Talking of time-shares, we haven't managed to get an extra week in Idaho or Oregon yet to fit in with our confirmed week back in Newport Coast. We may have to abort this and just go ahead and book our flights to the West Coast soon.

That's about all for now.
