Saturday

Gary's new £15 glasses (bought online):

Luca watches the footy:

End of week

Not been so good for me - came home early from Fraserburgh on Thursday - sore throat, sore limbs and headache. Stayed off work on Friday as virus moved in to my chest and generally feeling sorry for myself - being ill isn't good - especially at the weekend! Missing out on dinner at Anne and Leslie's tonight - plus golf today and tomorrow.

Gary and Luca are coming here for lunch - and to watch the footy! Hope I don't pass any germs on.

One thing I did manage to do yesterday was change our return flights from USA. It was difficult - and expensive. Couldn't come back exactly a week earlier as the flights were booked, so we're now leaving Grants Pass on the Sunday and getting back home on the Monday - only 5 days sooner than the original flights, but I think I had to do something - 4 weeks was stretching my holiday allowance a little!

Assessment

Went to Bannatyne's yesterday for an updated assessment - incidentally Jo says I have to stop going there as she thinks Duncan Bannatyne is rude and nasty on Dragon's Den! Anyway, my results are below - not very exciting although much improved on when I first went there in December 2006. Body fat too high - but no surprise there then - what do you want me to do? - give up beer? So I start a new programme tomorrow.

I tried the Powerplate machine - interesting but didn't find it seemed to do all that much - it's been built in to my new programme so I'll keep trying and let you know what I think after a few weeks.

Monday

Lucy's posting lots of photos on their blog but Kelly and Craig are a bit slipshod - and Gary's not exactly been prolific - come on, you lot!

Our painter doesn't arrive until Monday morning now, which is also the same time as the hob gets a long overdue overhaul before the insurance runs out on 1st May. I guess I'll have to work from home for a while.

After my epic trawl through Bleak House, I went from the sublime to the ridiculous with this month's audiobook download - it was Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues, done live from the stage show, and coming in at less than 2 hours - light and easy listening but now I'm done until next month. Still got over 20 tracks of music downloads to my credit, however - and that's after taking the Raconteurs new album, Consolers of the Lonely - pretty good on first couple of listenings - if anyone wants a copy burned to CD, just let me know.

Been busy trying to sort out my cock-up on booking my flights back from USA this summer - we're currently out there for 4 weeks instead of the usual 3 - don't know how I made such a simple error but, if I want to keep earning a living, I can't realistically stay out there for 4 weeks - sorry Lucy! - no problem for Jo as she'll have retired by then, but I suspect she'd rather travel back with me anyway. It's a complicated schedule and involves BA, Delta and Virgin and each one will make a charge for change and it's not as simple as it would first appear to simply bring the return flights back exactly a week.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday that we should have played golf but, with it being Junior Medal day, the times didn't quite fit in and so we opted for squash doubles instead - it was the first time we've been able to turn the heating off at the cold Crathes court. The new showers are now available at the golf club so we went back there for beers on the balcony watching the sun set in the west - lovely.

Weekend

Been great - plenty of sunshine and lots of golf! Got my handicap cut again on Saturday - that's 2 weeks in a row now.

Apart from that, just the usual - Jo doing her schoolwork and Ross either sleeping or in his room on the PC. We've at least had a decision on the paintwork and so Davie from Fraserburgh will be back this week - he can re-do the kitchen paintwork that Jo hated and also do the outside (back) of the house and the rear stairs - Jo also wants the masonry on our porch re-done so we'll be keeping him busy!
