Midweek mumbles

It's Wednesday and it started off very wet, but now the sun's shining brightly - at least in Fraserburgh.

I've done nothing activity-wise for a while now. My football days are long over and I'm now also avoiding squash - at least until I have the results of last week's scan on my left knee - so the only activity I have been doing of late has been cycling, but the weather has stopped my last 2 attempts to get out and about. I resorted to doing a bit on the static bike downstairs on Monday - but it's like going to the gym - tedious.

As well as waiting for the results of my knee scan, I'm also waiting to hear the results of my fasting Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. I was expecting a call from the Doctor's on Monday, but it never happened - and nor did it yesterday. Should I remain on tenterhooks or phone them up now?

I'm still feeling a bit down from the tooth removal last week - my whole mouth is sore and I've had to pop a few paracetamol occasionally to dull the pain. It should die down soon, I hope.

Driving home from Fraserburgh in the dark and driving rain last night reminded me of one of the main reasons I am retiring. No matter how many times I've travelled the cross-country route between the Broch and Banchory, oncoming headlights in the dark confuse my old brain and my tired eyes and my fear is I "lose" the road.

That was almost as bad as Jo's day. She went in to town to do some Xmas shopping but left her purse at home. She discovered this only when she parked and then realised she didn't have enough money to even pay for that! Enterprise overtook her and she went to her old school and borrowed some money from one of the staff there, after which she went home, got her purse, bought some flowers and drove back in to Aberdeen to hand them to the kindly soul who had lent her a few shillings. Best laid plans.

It was either the tale of Jo's chaotic day or watching Scotland humbled by England last night that led to a night of dreaming for me. Most of the dream sequences took place at airports and I seemed to spend most of the night chasing Jo around as she repeatedly left her stuff behind at security and then took wrong turnings. The stuff of nightmares - endlessly chasing and never catching up.

I've been digitising more of my old LP's, but I've had a few technical issues and have had to enlist Ross' support. Hopefully we'll get it sorted soon.

Enough from me for now.
